The Camp Broadway Ensemble is excited to perform a special holiday medley featuring "Let's Hear It For The Holidays!" a cheerful celebration of the season written by Doug McCormick and Darin Brown.
"My late husband Doug McCormick, would be overjoyed that talented children from Camp Broadway will be performing his and Darin's song at Radio City Music Hall," says Kasia McCormick. "'Let's Hear It For The Holidays!' sends a universal message of love during the holiday season."
"In addition to learning the music and performing on the iconic Radio City Music Hall stage, we think our young performers will be inspired to learn that Doug McCormick grew up here in New York, performed in school musicals, and went on to enjoy success as an entrepreneur, media executive, and songwriter - proving there are many ways to succeed as an artist on and off the stage," says Artistic Director Theo Lencicki.

Singer-Songwriter Darin Brown Pays Tribute to Doug McCormick with the Release of a New Take on “Brought Up In New York (Brought Down In L.A.), a Classic Song by Paul Anka and Doug McCormick
NEW YORK CITY, NY - On May 9, 2023, singer-songwriter Darin Brown will release a new single “NY/LA,” a remake of the classic song “Brought Up In New York (Brought Down in L.A.)” originally written by Paul Anka and the late Doug McCormick. This track features new material co-written by McCormick and Brown and is a heartfelt tribute to McCormick, who passed away one year ago on the same day as the song’s release. In addition to Paul Anka, McCormick also wrote for other music heavyweights like Gladys Knight, Dusty Springfield and Roberto Carlos.
“NY/LA” explores the universal themes of love and heartbreak, set against the contrasting backdrops of New York and Los Angeles. The lyrics tell a story of a person who leaves L.A. after a failed romance, feeling like a “loser in love,” and returns to the familiar streets of New York. Brown’s smooth vocals combined with McCormick’s poignant lyrics create a unique blend that captures the essence of the original song while also adding a fresh perspective.
“It’s an honor to be releasing this song on the anniversary of Doug’s passing,” says Brown. “He was a dear friend and an incredible lyricist, and I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to collaborate with him.”
The release of “NY/LA” is the first in a series of singles to be released this year by Darin Brown representing the large body of material that McCormick and Brown have co-written over the past few years.
“NY/LA” will be available on all major digital music platforms including Spotify. Fans can also look forward to a music video for the single, which is set to be released in the coming weeks.
A special show has also just been announced at the famed Birdland Theatre in Times Square on September 10, 2023 featuring many of the songs that Brown and McCormick co-wrote. Along with his wife Melanie Goerlitz, Brown will perform with their group, “The Modern Martinis.”
